If you are just starting out in a new home or apartment it can be simply overwhelming – so many things to acquire with so little time! It’s said that the majority of home décor and household goods purchases are made within the first two months of a move to a new home and it’s easy to understand why that might be.

One purchase you won’t be able to delay is bedding – you will need a place to sleep even on your first night in a new place. You may be able to order a pizza but you won’t be able to get a bed ensemble delivered in time for dinner. By shopping online you can do the next best thing and have your bedding delivered right to your door, even if you just wish to start with the basics.

Bedding basics begin with the mattress protector and a mattress pad or mattress toppers. Mattress toppers are easy to buy online – they run in the same sizes as standard mattresses, from twin to California King and they are also available for sofa beds, water beds and cribs. You will want a mattress protector first and then a mattress pad or topper to provide more comfort and to keep the sheets from coming into direct contact with the mattress.

Next you will need a sheets set; sheet sets typically include a fitted bottom sheet, a flat top sheet and two standard pillow cases. It’s more cost-efficient to buy a sheet sets than it is to buy each piece individually.
